We started out as Complama — a name that made sense when compliance was the entry point. But the company we've been building is bigger than that, and we wanted a name that reflects where we're actually headed.

The thing that frustrated us most when we started in this space wasn't that there weren't any security tools for startups — it was that they were optimized for the wrong outcomes. Most of what's out there is designed to help companies look secure to an auditor, not to help them understand and manage the risks they're actually facing. The result is security programs built around frameworks written for someone else's company, at someone else's stage, with someone else's tech stack.

Cortile is built around a different idea. Our platform connects to your environment, learns your business context, and gives you a continuously updated security program that's right-sized to your actual risks — not a generic checklist.
